Strategy to fight Hiv and Aids In Lebialem Division

BACKGROUND: Contamination's rate of HIV /AIDS in Lebialem is around 6%. The youths are the most threatened by this pandemic. The Rural channel,Lebialem Community radio FM 91.7, the only radio channel most listened broadcasting programs in Lebialem Division and its neighborhood, has been given the fight against AIDS as its main task. Listeners of LCR 91.7 are mainly made up of youths and house wives. Two Weekly programs are thus broadcaster. There are also news drama running Commentaries, three in number per week and a broadcasting of spots and jingle, in suitable time of listening.
METHODS: FM 91.7 grants a privilege to a sympathetic tone and collaboration between journalists and listeners. Teams of reporters go on the field to collect testimonies from suffering people through up date books.
RESULTS: After two years of work the channel has overcome the difficulty of credibility raised at the beginning. This is explained by the voluminous number of the letters and calls sent by the listeners. This situation shows how successful the method chosen by LCR FM 91.7 is.
CONCLUSION: Credibility of programs can not be established. Without Journalists' Competence. There fore, there is a need of training. In other way, contact with international organizations is desired. We appeal for support particularly to foreign countries, Individuals and NGOs
